Serving approximately 14,000 New Yorkers annually, we address barriers to educational achievement, economic security, and career stability through three key program areas: Education and School-Day Programs : Offering pre-kindergarten services, community schools, after-school programs, and college access counseling. Sector-Focused Training and Employment Placement Pathways : Providing specialized training, employment placement pathways, Summer Youth Employment, Work Learning Grow initiatives, and aiding residents in accessing new employment opportunities. Community & Economic Empowerment Services : Enabling community progress through community centers, resident services, food access, financial literacy programs, and support accessing benefits and wellness services. We collaborate with government, corporate, and philanthropic partners to effect significant and lasting social change, fostering thriving communities. Primary Function
Under the supervision of the Outreach Manager, the Outreach Specialist is responsible for supporting the Workforce Department in achieving outreach and enrollment goals for all programs including CNH, CNBS, JtBO. Duties and Responsibilities
Support the implementation of the recruitment and enrollment strategy for all programs across the Workforce department (CNH, CNBS, JtBO). Support and provide the delivery of Information Sessions on and off site for all workforce sectoral programs. Act as the public face of workforce initiatives including representing PN at public and industry events and interfacing with community leaders and elected officials. Work cross functionally, particularly with the Administration, Case Management, and Employer Engagement teams. Individually and as a team member, build strong relationships with community youth and staff as well as youth, residents, community groups and businesses in the neighborhood. Cultivate relationships with hard-to-recruit youth and young adults in the community. Responsible for collecting, reviewing and assisting participants with the completion of the application process at the intake site. Input program data, including enrollment and demographic information. Facilitate participant orientations prior to the start of each program if necessary. Keep accurate data, maintain participant records, is detail-oriented, and organized as related to paperwork. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications
High School diploma required. Preferred experience working with workforce and youth programs. Capacity to multi-task and to provide support to Directors. Previous work experience with the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) preferred. Excellent organizational, verbal, written & communication skills, interpersonal skills, and computer literate. Strong critical thinking, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills are required.
