Under the direction of the Assistant City Manager, the Recreation Coordinator assists with performing a wide variety of administrative, customer service, and daily operational duties of assigned recreational facility and/or services/programs. Assists in researching, developing, organizing, implementing, and leading a broad range of recreational activities and programs for ages designed to meet the community needs and performs related work required. This position exercises no supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Assists in planning, organizing, and supervising various recreational programs, activities, special events, leagues, tournaments, hospitality, and projects associated with area of specialty. Assists in researching, developing, implementing, overseeing, and evaluating recreational programs and services offered by the department. Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, motivating, scheduling, assignment of work, and evaluating staff, contract instructors and/volunteers. Interacts with public and staff daily; answers inquiries, resolves complaints, grievances, emergencies and assists patrons and staff as needed. Assists in evaluating and implementing departmental goals and objectives; internal and external policies and procedures that enhance the efficiency and productivity of recreational facilities, programs, and services. Assists in developing, administering, monitoring, and reporting on departmental budgets. Adheres to departmental procurement processes. Prepares daily, monthly, and annual reports regarding financials, participation, and usage of recreational programs and services. Acts as Manager-on-Duty for assigned facility including implementing established opening/closing procedures and performing opening and closing duties. Assists members and guests with membership sales, program registration, facility rentals, etc. for programs and services in accordance with department software. Supports the Parks and Recreation Commission by preparing materials, attending meetings as needed, and assisting with Commission initiatives, programs, and events. Monitors facility activities for participant compliance with health and safety rules; prepares accident and/or injury incident reports when required. Regular and consistent attendance for assigned work hours is essential. This position is designated as essential during natural or manmade disasters and may be required to perform alternate duties to support public safety and continuity of City operations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environmental characteristics described here represent those an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Work is primarily performed in an office environment with frequent travel to athletic fields, event sites, and public facilities. The position involves both administrative duties and active fieldwork. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to engage in strenuous physical activities, including running, kneeling, bending, twisting, dragging, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds of sports or event equipment. The role also involves repetitive motions such as typing and data entry, as well as visual requirements to monitor programs and events. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, and use hands to operate standard office equipment and perform on-site inspections. Fieldwork may expose the employee to noise, dust, uneven terrain, and varying weather conditions. Use of appropriate safety gear may be required depending on the activity or site location. Education, Training and Experience Guidelines

Work requires a high school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree is preferred. Candidates should have one (1) to three (3) years of experience in recreation coordination, program planning, or special event management. A bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field may substitute for required experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge: Public interaction practices to resolve complaints, handle grievances, respond to emergencies, and assist patrons and staff Departmental goals, objectives, and policies that support efficient operation of recreational facilities, programs, and services Methods for planning, organizing, and supervising recreational programs, activities, special events, leagues, tournaments, and hospitality functions Facility operations and application of health and safety rules to ensure compliance and accurate incident reporting City policies, procedures, and applicable regulations related to recreation and events operations Design software and promotional tools for effective program and event marketing Skills: Organizing and managing multiple recreational programs, activities, and events simultaneously Clear and effective verbal and written communication with patrons, staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners, as well as preparing accurate reports and correspondence Researching, developing, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs and events to meet community needs Providing front-line customer service, including membership sales, program registration, and facility rentals Coordinating logistics, scheduling, vendor contracts, and volunteer assignments to ensure successful events and programs Abilities: Understand and follow oral and written instructions accurately and on time Monitor facilities, staff, and participants for safety and compliance with established policies and procedures Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to support programs and special events Maintain reliable and consistent attendance and provide essential services during disasters, including duties outside the normal scope of the position Perform the physical tasks required for program set-up, equipment handling, and facility support License, Certifications, And Other Requirements:

Valid State of Texas Driver License CPR and First Aid certification within six months of hire or promotion Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and motor vehicle record (MVR) check
