Nature & Purpose of Position:
The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) seeks a student assistant to support initiatives and services that enhance the Greek community at Sam Houston State University. The role serves as a liaison to collegiate chapters, alumni, parents, international organizations, and the university, promoting academic excellence, leadership, and service.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with SHSU social fraternities, sororities, and FSL staff to create an engaging environment that encourages student involvement.
Answer phones, manage the departmental email account, and deliver exceptional customer service to visitors, guests, and campus partners.
Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of recognized FSL organizations.
Meet regularly with supervisor(s).
Contribute to planning and execution of FSL student leader trainings, workshops, recruitment efforts, service projects, and other events.
Aid in developing and distributing the departmental newsletter – Weekly Greekly.
Assist with preparation and implementation of events and programs throughout the year, including Pillars of Achievement & Excellence, Greek Week, and The Pantheon Awards & Recognition Reception.
Aid in collecting and maintaining statistics and data for assessment, strategic planning, and reporting purposes.
Research best practices from peer institutions and professional networks to stay informed about trends in Fraternity/Sorority Life.
Perform other duties as assigned.
