Communications Assistant – Student Hourly
Inside Higher Ed is looking for a creative and organized student to help us share our mission, engage prospective students, and support our marketing strategy. As the Communications Assistant, you will assist the communications coordinator with creating and planning digital content for social media and print materials, promote and organize events, and perform general office operations. Responsibilities
60% – Graphic Design: Design graphics, posters, and flyers in Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva; assist in creating general marketing collateral. 30% – Social Media: Support social media campaigns by brainstorming and writing content; assist in strategy and reporting; shoot and edit photos and videos for social media, website, and collateral. 10% – Events: Provide event marketing and logistic support for outreach events; assist with inventorying promotional items. 10% – Other: Perform other communication tasks as assigned; assist in editing and proofreading collateral. Required Qualifications
At least sophomore status. Major in marketing, visual art and design, museum studies, public relations, journalism or related field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with social media demonstrated through coursework or previous work. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro), Microsoft Word and Excel. Availability to work evenings and weekends. Available to work at least two consecutive hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Preferred Qualifications
Experience taking photos and/or shooting and editing video. Efficient writing and editing skills. Knowledge of AP style. Working knowledge of Adobe software. Experience with Drupal, WordPress or similar web program. Highly organized, detailed, and an excellent communicator. Position Requirements
During the semester term, student hourlies must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods, students must have been enrolled in at least 6 credit hours in the past spring semester or be pre‑enrolled for the upcoming fall semester, or be enrolled in summer session, or be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. Employment Conditions
This is an hourly/non‑exempt position. Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless approved by unit leadership and HR. Application Instructions
