The Office of Fixed Assets and Surplus Property at James Madison University is accepting applications for a Surplus Property Coordinator. The department ensures proper accounting and financial reporting for acquisition, surplus, and disposition of the University's fixed assets in compliance with policies and guidelines. The Surplus Property Coordinator is responsible for coordinating surplus property activities for the university, ensuring accountability, meeting reporting requirements, and safeguarding assets declared surplus. The role regulates disposal by determining effective methods and interprets and complies with university and state policies. The Coordinator supports the mission of Fixed Assets and Surplus Property by providing superior customer service and ensuring prudent fiscal stewardship of the University\'s assets. Responsibilities

The Surplus Property Coordinator oversees daily warehouse operations and maintains the Surplus Property database, tracking receipts and disposals by surplus ID. Responsibilities include maintaining an organized, safe warehouse and safe operation of equipment. Prepare surplus property reports, descriptive details, and pictures for GovDeals.com. Conduct transfers to other state agencies, sales to localities or approved non-profits, donations, auctions, and recycling projects per policies. Maintain administrative records of surplus activities to ensure fiscal accountability and data integrity. Report surplus property transactions by JMU ID for official asset records. Coordinate surplus property redistribution to maximize utilization of state property. Maintain JMU\'s surplus property website with digital images of available inventory. Communicate with other state agencies for potential utilization of surplus. Serve on Moves Committee and inform management of moves impacting operations. Participate in reviews of operations and assist in the possible conversion of the surplus property database to Oracle ERP and the Fixed Assets module implementation. Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Working knowledge of inventory control, warehouse procedures, and material handling equipment. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures. Attention to detail. Ability to work independently, organize and control receiving and redistribution operations, schedule activities, and apply policies. Experience with PC-based applications and maintaining detailed records. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation and operate departmental pickup truck with lift gate.
