Operating out of a twenty-four (24) hour per day, 7-day per week, on-site Emergency Prevention Center, this position is responsible for fire prevention/protection, life-saving and emergency response activities and equipment at our world-class battery manufacturing campus. Responsibilities
Provide emergency monitoring and dispatch, fire prevention, fire & life safety inspection, fire & life safety education Manage and maintain the site Emergency Operations Center to include the scheduling of external repair and maintenance as needed or required Implement and manage technical inspection, cleaning, and maintenance programs of fire and life safety equipment Acts as a subject matter expert concerning all plant fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems Works closely with various department members, business partners, contractors, and local, state, or federal officials on matters of fire and life safety Develops, directs, and participates in ongoing training, drills, and continuing education Performs and manage regular fire and life safety building inspections Interprets and applies applicable fire and life safety building codes (IFC and NFPA) Reviews building and construction plans or drawings to determine compliance with all applicable fire and life safety codes Performs and lead firefighting, emergency medical, first aid, basic life support and rescue operations Perform an initial scene size up or assessment during potential or actual emergencies to determine the risk and make quick initial decisions. Performs all aspects of structural firefighting operations and rescue in an industrial environment with multi-story buildings engaged in various types of manufacturing processes Directs water through turrets and hand lines to cool building contents during a fire Operates or deactivates mechanisms and processes during emergencies Serves and manage as a driver/operator of a firefighting apparatus of significant complexity Operates and manage pumps, foam generators, hoses, power tools, and other similar equipment Performs basic life support services and noninvasive emergency procedures Performs hazardous material mitigation, control, and confinement operations within the capabilities of the available resources and personal protective equipment available to control leaks or releases May perform or assist with machine extraction, elevator, and confined space rescue Perform fire, emergency medical, rescue, and life safety training and education to live as well as virtual audiences in both classroom and hands-on training environments. Develop, implement, and manage plant disaster prevention programs to protect against all hazards both natural and man-made Sustain an Emergency Management program that focuses on emergency and disaster mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery Plan and manage disaster prevention training, drills, and exercises of both large and small scale Manage the site Emergency Response Team (E.R.T.). Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required, Vocational Certificates or Associates Degree preferred, or equivalent, relevant experience Incident Command System (FEMA ICS-100/ICS-200 or equivalent) National Incident Management System (FEMA IS-700 or equivalent) Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) licensed – EMT-Basic (EMT-B) Experience
Firefighter 1 & 2 Haz Mat Operations and/or Technician Level 2+ years of previous experience in Fire Code enforcement 2 + Years in a supervisory role 5+ years of experience as an industrial or professional firefighter Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) – EMT certification recognized in Arizona Knowledge of NFPA and IFC standards and building/fire code requirements Willingness to cross-train in other functions within the EH&S team Ability to work flexible hours occasionally to support plant/training activities Must be on-call at least 1 week every 2 months Skills
Proficient in MS Office suite Outstanding organizational skills Professional, positive attitude, highly motivated self-starter Strong organizational skills Ability to gather data and prepare reports, statements and presentations Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be on-call at least 1 week every 2 months Physical Requirements
The work requires long hours sitting and performing work with computers at a desk but also requires strenuous physical exertion e.g., frequent climbing of multiple flights of stairs, running, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restrictive areas during fire and rescue situations; wearing/carrying fire protection equipment; extended periods of heavy moving and lifting of patients in a variety of situations; recurring bending, lifting, stooping, stretching, and positioning of patients under adverse conditions or in confined areas; and prolonged periods in protective breathing apparatus and protective clothing during a fire or hazardous materials incidents or exercises.
