Elementary & Middle School Guidance Counselor
for the 2025-26 school year. The counselor will report to the principal and assist students with personal, family, educational, and emotional issues. They will collaborate with the administration, faculty, staff, and parents to support student needs. All duties and responsibilities should align with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. Responsibilities & Tasks:
Analyze data to identify student challenges and needs, acting as a systems change agent to improve equity, access, achievement, and opportunities. Provide short-term counseling to students and refer for long-term support as needed. Deliver classroom counseling lessons based on student success standards. Work under the supervision of the Assistant Principal and Principal, maintaining professional standards in accordance with Parish and Diocesan policies and Catholic social teachings. Collaborate positively and professionally with students, parents, and guardians to establish strong relationships. Facilitate and attend parent and student workshops. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designee. Engage in continual personal, professional, and organizational growth. Conduct monthly counseling lessons focusing on academic, emotional, behavioral, or developmental issues to enhance school functioning. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards as required by the State Licensing Board and the School Counseling profession. Develop and implement Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), including RTI and PBIS. Serve as a liaison among school parents, teachers, and staff. Provide direct care through classroom counseling, individual counseling, risk assessments, and small group sessions. Consult with parents on concerns and make referrals to community services; provide crisis intervention. Identify and monitor at-risk students, offering support and counseling to students and families. Observe students to evaluate strengths, weaknesses, or special education needs, and refer families to support services. Maintain confidential records of students' psycho-educational and support plans, including IEP/504 plans. Collaborate with academic departments (ESE, ESL & ELL), principals, teachers, and outside providers for additional student services. Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Guidance Counseling or a related field. Hold or be eligible for a Florida Department of Education school counseling certificate. High proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and other relevant technologies. Strong organizational skills. Deep knowledge of school counseling concepts, practices, and procedures, with clear and accurate communication. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines. Effective oral and written English communication skills, including a clear speaking voice. Supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in a Catholic environment is preferred. Subject line should read:
