Brunswick County DSS is accepting applications for a Social Worker III for the Adult Services team.
Adult Services Social Worker III
provides protective and case management services to disabled and vulnerable adults. This work includes evaluating allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation; providing case management services; assisting and protecting adults who were found to be incompetent and in need of Adult Guardianship services; and assessing the needs and providing services to disabled adults who wish to remain in their homes.
Job Responsibilities
Assessing the safety of elderly and disabled adults through interviews, completing home and community visits as well as contacting family members and service providers.
Connecting vulnerable adults to community resources to address safety and risk factors.
Completing timely, concise, detailed documentation
Preparing court documents and testifying in court as needed.
Conducting interviews with disabled adults and others with knowledge of the adult’s abilities and needs
Consulting with professionals regarding the adult’s history, needs, and abilities
Reviewing medical and/or psychological records
Rotating on-call coverage for adult services as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of adult services policies and legal mandates
Knowledge of social work, practices, and principles
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Assessment skills

Education and Experience Requirements
Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; or
Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only); or
Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; or
Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; or
Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; or
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience; or
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pound of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
