Compensation and benefits
Salary range:
$50,000 - $52,000
(based on candidate qualifications and experience)
Live-in position with apartment and meal plan; University benefits including health, life insurance, and 14 paid holidays

Job Overview The Residence Education Coordinator (REC) plays a pivotal role in creating a vibrant living-learning community within residence halls. Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations of assigned residential communities, implementing residence education initiatives, guiding residential staff, serving as campus referral source and conduct officer, and addressing diverse student needs from first-year undergraduates to graduate students. The REC participates in on-call rotations and responds to crisis situations outside regular hours. This is a live-on position with the on-campus apartment and meal plan described above.
Key Responsibilities
Residence Hall Management: manage administrative tasks related to operations, occupancy, check-in/out procedures, room changes, and collaboration with Housing Services and campus partners.
Supervision and Staff Development: recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Resident Assistants and residential staff; facilitate staff development and training; foster a positive work environment; provide ongoing training in areas like conflict resolution and crisis response.
General Administration: implement policies; develop evaluation tools; analyze data and prepare reports; attend meetings; participate in campus and departmental projects.
Residence Education Curriculum: develop and deliver staff training and leadership development; promote a collaborative, inclusive work environment.
Student Development and Crisis Response: provide crisis intervention, referrals, and follow-up; serve as conduct hearing officer; maintain incident documentation; participate in on-call rotations and campus emergency response; coordinate with leadership on conduct actions.
Student Support and Advising: maintain visibility with students; provide guidance for academic or personal challenges; promote mental health and well-being; mediate conflicts; provide diversity and social justice education.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Personnel or related field (Required)
Advanced degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Personnel or related field (Preferred)
At least two years of live-on housing experience in higher education or relevant field (Required)
One year of relevant professional experience in higher education or related field (Required)
6 years of equivalent experience/training/education in lieu of a bachelor’s degree (Required)
Critical Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of advising and counseling techniques and higher education practices in wrap-around student support services, risk assessment, and incident triaging
Active listening, critical thinking, negotiation, problem solving, communication, and intercultural competence
Knowledge of higher education student development theory and practice
