Student Accessibility Services - Athletics Learning Specialist
Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a Student Accessibility Services - Athletics Learning Specialist to provide individualized academic support to student‑athletes and serve as a key liaison with the Student Accessibility Services (SAS) office. The role supports student‑athletes in developing learning strategies, managing accommodations, and maintaining NCAA, Conference USA, and university academic eligibility.
Responsibilities
Provide services in the central SAS office on a weekly basis.
Assist with exam proctoring in SAS during exam week.
Schedule intake appointments, offer assistive technology training, and perform other duties as needed.
Provide learning strategies for at‑risk student‑athletes through proactive and individualized support to enhance academic success and promote independent learning.
Design and implement workshops on goal setting, time management, organization, study skills, and self‑advocacy.
Assist student‑athletes in understanding and meeting academic eligibility guidelines based on NCAA, C‑USA, and FAU requirements.
Deliver professional customer service to athletics partners, coaches, administrators, student‑athletes, parents, faculty, and staff; assist with student‑athlete recruitment as appropriate.
Apply NCAA standards to determine continuing eligibility status and guide enrollment decisions.
Build and maintain working relationships across a diverse workforce at all levels.
Interpret and communicate complex rules and regulations effectively.
Provide academic support to a designated caseload of student‑athletes and liaise with SAS.
Coordinate assessment, screening, and psycho‑educational evaluations and evaluate documentation for student‑athletes.
Maintain the Student‑Resource Indicator (SRI) on a semester basis to provide a holistic experience for each student‑athlete.
Oversee part‑time academic support personnel to assist in executing academic plans.
Teach study skills and learning strategies; evaluate developmental learning progress; report progress to the Director of Academic Support and communicate with athletic academic staff and coaches.
Assist with the development of the summer bridge and Student Learning Services (SLS) programs.
Meet with student‑athletes to monitor academic progress and accommodations; compile risk assessments and input into academic plans.

Minimum Qualifications A master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate specialization is preferred; a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate specialization and two years of relevant experience is required.
Salary $43,242 – $45,000 per year.
Location Boca Raton, FL
Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Some nights and weekends may be required.
