The School Nutrition Assistant is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the School Nutrition Manager where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount. All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students. Position Title: School Nutrition Assistant Salary Schedule: PCSD Classified Department: School Nutrition Department Job Code: 641000 Reports To: School Nutrition Program Manager Work Schedule: 181 days per year; hours may vary as assigned by Director of School Nutrition Grade/Level: A-1A FLSA: Non-Exempt Primary Function: Assists in the preparation of various foods for cooking and serving through use of standardized recipes. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Possess basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages) to measure, count, calculate recipes & time, etc. Responsibilities

Assists in the preparation of various foods for cooking and serving through use of standardized recipes. Reads, writes, and communicates effectively in English; possesses basic math skills to measure, count, calculate recipes and times. Reads and follows recipes to ensure cost, nutrients, yield and customer satisfaction goals are met. Uses proper portion control to meet meal pattern and recipe guidelines. Implements state and local health codes as they relate to food service. Maintains organization and productivity; meets work quality and quantity expectations; completes tasks accurately and on time. Cleans equipment and small wares; stores items securely and properly; sweeps and cleans kitchen floors. Serves on the serving line and meets serving schedule deadlines; operates food service equipment safely. Practices good personal hygiene and sanitation; follows dress code and represents the department professionally. Reports faulty equipment to the Food Service Manager. Assists with checking in, dating, and recording temperatures of foods and supplies. Assists with unloading and storage of all foods and supplies. Meets USDA Professional Standards training requirements and participates in in-service training annually. Performs lifting to 50 pounds as needed. Participates in program promotions/marketing and provides excellent customer service. Records reimbursable meals and serves as cashier if trained and assigned. Adheres to district procedures for unusual collection procedures and safety. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee. Qualifications

Minimum of high school diploma or GED, preferred 90 Hours Substitute Training 30 Hours State Required Orientation for New Employee Course (ONE); ongoing training/professional standards requirements The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements. Essential Functions

Keeps the work area organized and productive; meets work quality and quantity expectations. Cleans equipment and small wares; stores items securely and properly. Maintains clean kitchen floors; serves on serving line and meets deadlines. Operates all food service equipment safely and correctly. Maintains personal hygiene and sanitation; follows dress code and represents the department professionally. Reports faulty equipment; assists with temperature checks of foods and supplies. Unloads and stores foods and supplies; participates in USDA standards and in-service training. Performs lifting up to 50 pounds; participates in program promotions and customer service. Recognizes and records a reimbursable meal for all service types; may serve as cashier if trained. Adheres to district procedures for unusual collection procedures and safety.
