Position Overview:
Under supervision, promotes, organizes, and leads recreational activities at a community center or similar facility. Responsibilities include conducting activities for assigned groups and performing related duties.
Opportunity:
Selected applicants will provide high-quality customer service to a diverse patron base at the Fullerton Community Center, which hosts various programs and facilities including senior clubs, youth clubs, and aquatics. Duties involve preparing facilities, engaging with the public, developing communication strategies, assisting with programming, administrative tasks, and supporting special events. Hours may vary, including evenings and weekends.
Position Type:
This is an at-will, temporary, non-benefited role. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for three months. Reapplication is encouraged after this period.
Knowledge:
Methods and techniques in sports, playground, camping, and recreational activities. Safety precautions related to assigned functions. English language usage and customer service skills.
Abilities:
Effective oral communication. Skills in sports or activities relevant to the assignment. Organizing and leading groups of children or adults. Conflict resolution and maintaining order. Establishing relationships and understanding policies. Following written and oral instructions. Basic computer skills.
Education and Experience:
Community Services Leader I: 10th grade completion, some group leadership experience. Community Services Leader II: 11th grade, one season of leadership experience. Senior Community Services Leader: High school graduation, two seasons of leadership experience.
Requirements:
Valid driver's license or transportation arrangements. Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, holidays, and overtime. CPR and First Aid certification within 60 days of hire. Successful pre-employment screening. Negative TB test at the time of appointment.
Additional Notes:
Bilingual ability may be preferred. The role involves physical activity, including lifting and exposure to various environments. Accommodations will be made as needed.
