Responsible for the management of the Fab Shop and all Steel New Construction. Advises management of the status of work in progress for assigned trades, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Direct reports
Supervises (including hiring, orienting, training, evaluating, and discharging) the Fab Shop Supervisor, Steel Welding Supervisor, and Steel Shipfitting Supervisor. Maintains up-to-date supervision records on each employee and completes staff evaluations and any required disciplinary actions as requested and on time. Ensures that the selection of employees is administered without regard to race, religion, color, veteran’s status, national origin, citizenship, sex, age, or non-job-related disability and in accordance with Affirmative Action objectives and EEO laws. Responsible for ensuring excellent customer service and performance by subordinate staff. Key performance indicators

Directs activities in safety, personnel, production, material handling and quality; ensures compliance with safety, quality, company and regulatory directives Implement and adhere to production costs including personnel and material resources and production budget Establish and foster a safe working environment for all employees Accountable for the performance of assigned craft supervisors and tradesmen for safety, quality, and production Translate company strategies into tactical plans; create and prioritize resources and steps to accomplish goals on time Schedule and conduct shipyard meetings with shipyard management Advise management on manning and expense goals and ensure efforts meet projections Determine operational improvements related to safety, quality, and manning Advise production workforce on processes and procedures Develop plans for periodic inspections of shipboard equipment and systems to verify preventative maintenance Use standardized estimating procedures and material costs Identify and analyze production problems within shipyard or industrial processes Prepare technical work documents and specifications for production work Coordinate planning for ship work projects to ensure completion per timelines Position qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and minimum of five (5) years of marine and engineering experience, or an associate degree with at least 10 years of experience Two (2) years of production management experience or equivalent Skills & abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills Strong verbal and written communication Professional interaction with all levels of the organization Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects Strong customer service skills Physical demands
