Job Summary
The Planner is responsible for planning, estimating, build planning, and develop product structures to support the Schedule. The Planner works independently with little or no supervision and provides technical coaching for less experienced staff members. Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities
Acts as a key member of the Project Management Team (PMT). Uses planning skills and marine knowledge to refine the project strategy into a project plan consisting of key events, major milestones, and durations of top-level activities required for execution. Uses MRP databases and software programs to develop detailed activities, logical relationships, durations, resource loading, and collaborations with scheduling. Supports output of the Work Package from within IFS Database and supports Integrated Baseline schedule and performance. Collects and assesses the validity of progress data; updates the department scheduled progress and consults with the direct report when updates present new or ongoing execution risks. Generates periodic data analytics to generate routine and customized reports from IFS, Excel, SharePoint and Power Point including updated schedules, resource profiles, budget and schedule variances, cost projections, impact of external events such as changes, and “what-if” reports. Supports Earned Value Management and other project controls deliverables of ongoing projects. Participates in Change Order management including impact analysis and budget adjustment proposals. Assists with the development of schedule inputs for proposals and supports estimating efforts with scheduling information as needed and assigned. Maintains data through appropriate file handling, safeguarding and archiving data as required by policies and procedures established. Key Qualifications
Knowledge of Primavera P6 (2+ years), including full resource/cost loading and full P6 EV capabilities. Understanding of WBS (Work Breakdown Structures). Knowledge of IFS applications and Data migration tools is preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Analytical abilities necessary to develop and maintain integrated schedules and supporting data. Must be a well-organized, detail-oriented self-starter. Ability to exercise sound judgment, work well independently and in the team setting, prioritize duties and follow tasks through to completion in a timely manner. Experience in a manufacturing/production environment and with critical path method scheduling and material procurement is required. Certifications and Experience
PE Professional Engineer knowledge base is preferred or equivalent work experience is preferred. Minimum five (5) years in a planning or scheduling capacity is required. Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting with moderate to loud noise levels from production activity in the shipyard. The individual may be required to be in production areas in yard and be able to walk to and from job sites. The incumbent must be able to frequently bend, squat, crawl, twist and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Local travel and out-of-town travel up to 5% of the time with notice may be required.
