AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese, and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter, and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail, and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers. This internship will allow the qualified candidate to participate in a learning program designed around training into a potential full-time opportunity of a role similar to the one described below. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time: All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety, and food quality issues to personnel of authority. This position has heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities. Execute required tests on finished products according to SOPs and customer requirements. Execute required tests on incoming ingredients according to QMS (Quality Monitoring Scheme). Responsible for daily/weekly plating, reading, calibration, sample collection, Internal Control Plan, sample preparations, etc. Support investigations on improvement projects (e.g., holds, consumer complaints), help identify root causes, and assist in identifying corrective actions and monitoring their effectiveness. Support training for operators to ensure process checks are accurate and timely as stated in QMS. Communicate out-of-specification product results to supervisor. Calibrate lab equipment such as pH meters and scales according to SOPs. Conduct daily routine sample analyses using lab techniques and instrumentation following Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Organize laboratory records and files, ensuring compliance with procedures and work instructions. Ensure correct recording of laboratory and quality records in compliance with SOPs, including storage and retrieval of records. Support laboratory activities to maintain and improve product quality, services, housekeeping, and hygiene standards. Support laboratory compliance (calibration, equipment testing, etc.) to SQF and AMPI requirements. Follow and execute company policies on GMP, quality, and food safety, escalating issues as needed. Support execution and improvement of GMPs throughout the plant, following safety rules and procedures. Participate in improvement initiatives (e.g., complaints, holds) for the facility.
