Job Description
Job Title: Dining Distribution Specialist Supervisor
Job Summary: This position will supervise, deliver, perform inventory, warehousing, process orders, stage orders and coordinate dock operations for Dining Distribution.
What You'll Do In This Role:
Shift Supervisor
Distribution Specialist
Shift Supervisor responsibilities:
Supervise a group of student-employees and provide direction and coaching related to work standards regarding safety, quality, service and cost.
Responsible for ensuring that the assigned shift runs smoothly, employees are productive, and customers are satisfied.
Hands on for the assigned shift responsibilities.
Flexible schedule that allows coverage of various shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays. Monday – Saturday, from 5:00am to closing.
Distribution Specialist responsibilities:
Assist in performing a variety of duties at a warehouse and shipping facility, including all types of deliveries, inventory physical counts, warehousing and dock coordination.
Operate delivery trucks, forklifts, EV carts and other material handling equipment.
Generate and process incoming customer requisitions utilizing the Eatec and gas cylinder programs.
Education/Experience:
Minimum Required: A firm commitment to the mission of BYU; High School graduate.
Preferred: Bachelor's or college level coursework; 1-2 years supervisory and receiving/delivery experience.
Skills, Abilities, Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications:
High degree of organizational skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to achieve desired results with minimal supervision.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Eatec and gas cylinder software.
ServSafe Certification (can be provided upon hiring).
Understanding of inventory movement/procedures.
Forklift certified (can be provided upon hiring).
Ability to delegate tasks and follow up appropriately.
Strong attention to detail.
Multitasking flexibilities.
Ability to work professionally with customers, vendors, and students.
Drive a delivery truck (can be provided upon hiring).
Take/Pass a DOT physical test.
A physical exam will be conducted as part of the hiring process for this position.
Physical Effort: Moderate – Frequent handling of medium weight objects (20-50 lbs.) and materials, use of medium weight hand tools, may require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions.
Environment: Frequent exposure to unfavorable conditions such as all-weather, cramped, very dirty, or unpleasant quarters.
Hazards: Frequent existing or potential hazards.
Typical Physical Efforts, Environmental Factors, and Hazards:
Move raw product such as ice cream weighing up to 50 lbs (1-2 hrs, daily).
Work in freezers with temps at or near -20 degrees (1-2 hours, daily).
Unpredictable weather conditions affecting dock area.
Loud noise from refrigeration equipment (Constant, daily).
Production atmosphere: wet floors, production equipment, chemicals, odors, power industrial trucks, etc. (Constant, daily).
Operating delivery trucks, dock levelers, pallet jacks, etc. (Constant, daily).
