Overview
The Maintenance Lead supports and advances the mission of FCS by ensuring facilities are maintained in a state of cleanliness conducive for student instruction and as a testimony of our stewardship before the Lord; overseeing the work of the maintenance staff members; working closely with the custodial team; supporting building principals; and reports directly to the Operations Director.
Responsibilities
Keeps Administrators informed of facilities activities which will affect their program
Repairs facility deficiencies as identified by work requests from Principals, Teachers, and other staff members, including problems with, but not limited to, restrooms, lighting, kitchens, grounds, gym, and classrooms, floors and halls
Ensures campus is in compliance with state and local codes
Schedules and prioritizes maintenance and set-up work consistent with routine and special school activities, functions, and summer
Checks regularly with each principal, the Superintendent and Athletic Ministries Director as to facility needs and makes sure operations are going well
Requests purchase of materials and supplies needed by maintenance personnel, authorized by Operations Director
Supervises Summer student workers, as needed
Maintains all tools and equipment are in working order
Performs any other work assigned by the Operations Director or other Administrator according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision
Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance and keyholder duties (as assigned) and is available for work at all school events scheduled on non-school days (as assigned) by the Operations Director; adjustment of hours and/or weekend work may be required and/or occasional overtime
Schedules and assists with completion of preventative maintenance program; inspect buildings, electrical systems, grounds, and equipment to ensure safe, well-maintained conditions, identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair
Performs minor troubleshooting and electrical repairs; replace light bulbs, ballasts and fuses
Identifies and performs basic service and repair on plumbing fixtures; open clogged lines and drains
Maintains inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment; recommend tools, supplies, and equipment for purchase and keep tools organized
Performs a variety of locksmith duties; install, repair, and replace locks on doors
Inspects, services, and maintains operational functionality of doors and windows
Installs or replaces plugs, switches, outlets
Assists with moving, loading, unloading, and storing supplies, furniture and equipment
Wears proper protective equipment while performing job duties (i.e., goggles, helmet, back brace, knee pads) in accordance with OSHA guidelines
Ability to learn and use computers for data entry and/or handle, use, or repair hand-held power equipment, tools, and/or light machinery; assist with HVAC, irrigation and lighting controls via web-based control systems
Makes sure that equipment is properly maintained
Assists with snow/ice removal or tree removal as result of inclement weather
Provide personal accessibility for inquiries and questions from school staff, supervisors, etc. and quick response to alarms; immediate response is preferred (and needed for alarms), response required within 60 minutes
Qualifications
Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord, maintained through personal routines (such as prayer and reading the Bible) and in the school setting (through regular participation in Prayer and Share devotional times and other spiritual development)
Possesses Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people and readiness to share faith in Christ with students as part of our school’s mission
Regular in attendance at an evangelical, Protestant church
Commitment to a biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationship
Strong commitment to Christian education
Maintains a valid driver’s license and ability to drive a variety of school vehicles
Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit. Frequently must squat, stoop, or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. Daily uses hand strength to grasp tools, supplies and equipment. Occasionally climbs ladders.
Thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures while using chemicals, power tools, hand tools and equipment; knowledge of proper lifting techniques; ability to operate heavy equipment; understanding of methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in maintenance, repair and electrical work; ability to properly perform basic welding and carpentry
Ability to learn and follow procedures installing, testing, operating, or repairing machinery or technology systems
Knowledge of school emergency procedures; ability to understand and follow written and oral directions; ability to perform work independently
Regularly works indoors and outdoors; occasionally works with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays; frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock, mechanical hazards, explosive hazards, burn hazards, chemical hazards; frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat
Broad knowledge and experience with maintaining school facilities
Willingness and ability to attend training/conferences related to facilities maintenance
