Overview
dormakaba is seeking a Maintenance Manager based in Indianapolis, IN. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of manufacturing machine maintenance at dormakaba’s Indianapolis manufacturing plant, ensuring equipment reliability, efficiency, and a safe working environment. This role directly supports production uptime and long-term asset health by overseeing a preventive and predictive maintenance strategy across a complex manufacturing footprint that includes CNC machining, stamping, automated assembly, screw machining, broaching, polishing, plating, coatings, and a wastewater treatment operation. The Maintenance Manager ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards while driving continuous improvement, team development, and maintenance excellence in support of operational goals.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop a high-performing maintenance team, including a Maintenance Supervisor, salaried Controls Engineer, and skilled hourly trades (electricians, welders, mechanics, and controls technicians), ensuring clear accountability and technical development across all levels
Oversee the reliability and uptime of complex manufacturing equipment, including CNC machines, punch presses, broach machines, robotics, screw machines, plating and coating lines, and painting operations
Establish and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs using Maintenance Order System / CMMS tools, reducing unplanned downtime and optimizing lifecycle performance of plant assets
Collaborate with the Facilities Engineer to support plant infrastructure systems, including HVAC and building utilities, through contractor oversight and coordination
Ensure maintenance team compliance with all safety and environmental standards, including confined space identification, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), and contractor management protocols. All confined space entry work is performed by qualified contractors under internal policy oversight
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance leadership role, preferably in durable goods or industrial production
Strong background in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems with demonstrated success in equipment reliability, maintenance planning, and team development
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
Equivalent experience in a maintenance leadership role within a manufacturing environment may be considered in lieu of a degree
Compensation Base Salary: $110,000 - $140,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
