Position Overview
LSU Health School of Dentistry Baton Rouge Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Department is seeking a motivated applicant for the position of Health Information Coordinator 1, 2 or 3.

Qualifications Two years of experience in administrative services in a medical setting.
Knowledge of HIC1 and HIC2 duties.

Job Duties
Receives and ensures that all referral paperwork submitted is processed.
Enters all patient data in WinOMS, Axium, and OneDrive.
Advise patients on insurance specific guidelines and notify them of non‑covered services.
Collects payments from patients for services.
Completes encounter slips for billing.
Secure all payment deposits.
Ensures the scheduling of all follow up visits.
Assists in reviewing accounts receivables and clearing out reports as needed.
Assists with obtaining medical clearance from outside medical doctors, track clearances assuring approval was received as needed.
Communicates well with diverse population of patients, faculty, students, and staff.
Position‑Specific Details These positions are in a Career Progression Group. Vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Health Information Coordinator 1, 2 or 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). Starting hourly rates: $15.01 (HIC1), $16.06 (HIC2), $18.38 (HIC3). Pay is dependent upon applicants’ qualifications. An additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
This is a Civil Service Position. Pre‑employment Drug testing and Criminal Background check are required. The position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months.
