Extreme Engineering Solutions (X‑ES) is seeking a Machine Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our internal machine shop. This leader will be responsible for ensuring production schedules are met, equipment is maintained, safety protocols are strictly followed, and quality standards are consistently upheld. This role will provide both technical and supervisory leadership across material planning, programming, production, inspection, shipping, and maintenance of metalwork parts and related equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong machining background, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
Overall responsibility and management of the Machine Shop, which may include training, mentoring, supervising, and directing employees
Plan, manage, and prioritize the processing schedules and production orders from programming through shipment
Optimize operational costs and productivity with a focus on machine efficiency, resource planning, and utilization
Promote cross‑functional collaboration internally and externally to drive continuous improvement in quality, design strategy, and ease of manufacturing
Monitor quality control processes and ensure all components meet internal and customer standards while maintaining accurate production and maintenance records
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree or higher in manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering, or a related field; equivalent years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required degree
Seven (7+) years of work experience, including three (3+) years of relevant leadership experience
Strong analytical, reasoning, and organizational skills
Hands‑on experience with CNC and manual machining, GD&T, and blueprint reading
Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and interpreting engineering drawings
High level of written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work efficiently and make independent decisions guided by policies, procedures, and business structure
Computer proficiency and a high level of organization with strong attention to detail
Ability to work onsite from our facility located at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway in Verona, WI
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering, or a related field
Certifications in OSHA Safety, Lean Manufacturing Six Sigma, or Journeyman Machinist
Strong level of technical experience with Computer‑Aided Design (CAD), Computer‑Aided Manufacturing (CAM), and different machining practices
Proven record of cross‑departmental collaboration and consulting
Prior machine shop experience, ideally ISO 9001:2015 or AS9100 environments
Creatively analyze data and detect actionable trends
Design for Manufacturing (DFM) experience
