The Role
The Assistant Project Manager assists the Superintendent and Project Management Team in managing all aspects of construction projects, including development, coordination, and implementation of a program schedule to ensure programs are completed on time, within budget, and with expected quality or better.
Qualifications 2+ years\' experience in the construction industry with a commercial or industrial general contractor
Familiar with detailed fixed price estimates; ability to use RS Means or other published unit price books to produce detailed line-item estimates
Possess effective negotiating skills
Resource Administration; to include operations support staff, vendors, subcontractors, and time management
Must demonstrate a strong ability to:
Adapt and be flexible to frequent changes in a fast-paced work environment
Demonstrate integrity consistent with Centennial\'s core values
Collaborate and work effectively in a team environment with people of various backgrounds and styles
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear, concise, and professional presentation of information
Adapt to the evolving world of technology, design, means and methods, and systems (Microsoft Office suite, ProCore, Adobe, and BlueBeam)
Bachelor\'s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field desired but not required
Responsibilities
Project Management:
Assists with project budgets; communicates effectively with all team members, including subcontractors and clients; participates in regular knowledge sharing with senior team; develops and reviews SOWs through site visits, existing conditions, and client needs; negotiates with clients and subcontractors as necessary; coordinates project close out and assists in pre-final inspections and As-Built drawings
Estimating:
Prepares estimates based on technical specifications, SOW, and drawings; assists with entering line items into Unit Price Book software using RS Means or other estimating tools
Subcontractor Management:
Solicits proposals from multiple vendors/subcontractors; reviews proposals for SOW compliance; assembles subcontractor quotes and collects safety information
Scheduling:
Assists in development of project schedules with superintendents for use by customers and subcontractors
Safety:
Ensures compliance with Centennial\'s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) guidelines and all local requirements (OSHA, USACE EM385.1.1, etc.)
Travel/Work Environment:
Responsible for driving between project sites that may be miles apart; occasional travel may be required. Job duties are performed in an office environment and at active construction sites, with weather considerations.
Physical Demands
The ability to walk uneven terrain; sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
The ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel
The ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, squat, or reach occasionally
The ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally
Visual acuity requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
