Join Our Team as an Operations & Maintenance Technician (OMT) – Colorado Bend Power Plant, Wharton, TX. EthosEnergy is looking for a skilled and motivated Operations and Maintenance Technician to support a cutting-edge 1,143 MW combined-cycle facility utilizing gas and steam turbine technology. In this hands-on role, you’ll be at the heart of plant operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of critical systems. Whether you're on shift or supporting the maintenance team, your expertise will help keep everything running smoothly—from turbines and generators to water treatment systems and fire suppression equipment. What You’ll Do
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. Work with advanced equipment including gas and steam turbines, heat recovery steam generators, compressors, pumps, motors, and more. Uphold the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance to protect our team and community. What We’re Looking For
2–4 years of relevant experience or equivalent training. Associate’s degree or technical school certification preferred. A proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to excellence. Job Responsibilities
Operate demineralizers, compressors, and turbine components. Perform inspection of watch (rounds) on each system within the plant. Maintain equipment by tightening fittings, replacing valve packing, gaskets, valves, and gauges. Clean, replace, oil, and lubricate other component parts and equipment as required. Read meters, gauges, or automatic devices to record data such as temperature, vibration, hours of operation, pressure, and fluid levels; monitor water chemistry to verify operating conditions. Perform general housekeeping and continuous improvement of the facility’s appearance, including painting projects as required; maintain cleanliness of all plant areas and control room. Perform capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by Plant Management. Operate and maintain a Combined Cycle power generating facility with minimal guidance or assistance, as directed by and in coordination with the LOMT. Identify and resolve CEMS problems; assist in calibrations and gas bottle change outs. Keep O&M Manager and/or LOMT informed of unusual plant conditions and current job progress as it relates to facility operations when assigned on-shift. Order chemicals through established vendors. Utilize the facility’s CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Assist in managing the plant’s inventory and perform audits as needed. Open and close circuit breakers as required for proper system operation and electrical isolation. Engage in outage planning and scheduling. Assist with development of Operations and Maintenance procedures and administer the Operator training program. Assist with performing Root Cause Analysis of failures. May operate heavy equipment such as man lifts and forklifts. Perform water chemistry analysis on HRSG, auxiliary boiler, and cooling tower systems; ensure water chemistry stays within proper control ranges and adjust as needed in coordination with the plant chemist and vendors. Operate demineralized water system in accordance with OEM and plant procedures and monitor water quality. Read, understand, and comply with all regulatory procedures and facility safety programs, including environmental permits. Required Skills / Knowledge
Demonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations. Ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations. Ability to write operating procedures, work requests, and records. Good verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word). Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic diagrams, technical manuals, and P&ID diagrams. Write routine reports, solve practical problems, and clearly communicate tasks and needs; train other personnel. Mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical equipment knowledge is required. Proficient in water chemistry. Experience
Two to four years of related experience and/or training; or a combination of experience and/or education preferred. Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred. Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating shift and be available for call-ins and overtime as needed. What We Offer
