About the Role
Amerlux, a pioneer in the lighting industry for over 35 years, is seeking a
Buyer
to join our Purchasing team in our Oakland, NJ office. This position is on-site five days per week.
As a Buyer, you will manage procurement of materials, components, and services for commercial lighting fixtures, ensuring timely, cost‑effective, and quality sourcing from domestic and international suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Source and procure components, materials, and services required for manufacturing commercial lighting fixtures.
Identify, qualify, and manage domestic and international suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and on‑time delivery.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve optimal cost savings and supplier performance.
Issue and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, timely delivery, and compliance with company requirements.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production planning to maintain appropriate stock levels and avoid shortages or excess.
Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to source components for new product introductions and design changes.
Evaluate supplier performance through metrics such as on‑time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.
Coordinate with logistics and customs teams on import documentation, freight arrangements, and delivery schedules.
Resolve supply issues, discrepancies, and quality concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain accurate purchasing records and contribute to ERP/MRP system accuracy and reporting.
Stay current with market trends, material costs, and global supply chain developments to identify cost‑reduction and risk mitigation opportunities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain functions.
Skill & Experiences
Bachelor's Degree.
3‑5 years of relevant experience.
Manufacturing Industry experience preferred, including the use of ERP/MRP applications (Oracle/SAP preferred) and experience working with Google Sheets, Smart Sheets, or Microsoft Excel.
Experience in the Lighting Industry is highly preferred.
The salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $85,000 annually, based on candidate skills and experiences.
