This exciting role in Novanta's Supply Chain organization will support the Celera Motion business, which specializes in motion control solutions that accelerate customer innovation. Celera Motion’s vision, advanced technologies, team approach, and reliability make us a trusted partner in solving complex motion control challenges. Primary Responsibilities
Manage relationships with suppliers as the point of contact for assigned commodities. Execute procurement activities using MRP and other methods to ensure timely delivery, negotiated prices, and compliance with specifications and quality standards. Expedite and align material expectations with customer commitments. Communicate supply risks and work to reduce supply chain complexity. Maintain and update system data with supplier information, compliance, and part master data. Ensure proper communication of part specifications, revisions, quality, and inspection requirements. Process purchase requisitions from internal customers and MRP planning, sourcing from qualified suppliers cost-effectively. Solicit bids, analyze quotations, select or recommend suppliers, and negotiate purchase agreements to ensure high quality at the lowest total cost. Review engineering drawings and specifications with suppliers to reduce lead times, costs, and improve products. Work with the commodity management team to establish inventory purchase agreements supporting lead time reduction, on-time delivery, and inventory optimization. Review supplier performance KPIs to ensure delivery, quality, and inventory goals are met. Research and develop new sources of supply using continuous improvement, NGS tools, and lean methods. Discuss supplier performance, capabilities, quality systems, engineering, and financial status regularly. Required Experience, Education, Skills, and Competencies
3+ years of purchasing experience or a recent BS/BA graduate in supply chain discipline. Hands-on experience with Oracle and/or other ERP systems. Ability to lead cost reduction projects to achieve PPV/PPI and material spend reductions. Proven ability to ensure material availability while reducing inventory and increasing turns. Systematic approach to supply base analysis and EOQ optimization for cost efficiency. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing priorities. Excellent computer, communication, and teamwork skills. Understanding of lean manufacturing methods. International purchasing and planning experience is a plus. Travel Requirements
