Job Summary This position is a member of the Tufts Pre-College Programs team within University College. The team\'s mission is to provide high school students with access to Tufts-quality education, enriching their academic journey while fostering early engagement with the Tufts academic community. Pre-College Program offerings are dynamic and continually evolving, offering residential, commuter, and virtual options across subject areas, including short, intensive programs in spring and summer, college courses, and accelerator seminars designed to give high school students an immersive college experience both academically and socially. All programs are developed and taught by Tufts faculty and staff and are supported by the University College Pre-College team. In collaboration with the Pre-College Programs Director and Associate Director, the Manager drives the operational goals and strategies for the Pre-College team and oversees all operational aspects of 1000+ minor students\' experiences in Pre-College programs. The Manager advances planning, preparation, and execution of 20+ Pre-College on-campus programs, helps students identify with and prepare for a transformative college experience, and ensures efficient administrative processes. The Manager leads year-round planning and implementation in partnership with the University College team, internal Tufts departments, and external vendors. The Manager serves as primary point of contact for the onsite residential team and other campus partners and vendors throughout the year. The role also leads communications and reporting related to pre-college operations, ensuring that students, parents, and administrators receive accurate, engaging information that builds trust and supports a positive experience. This role requires strong organizational skills, collaboration, attention to detail, the ability to manage many moving pieces, and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders in a complex environment. To drive program success, the Manager optimizes student and operational materials, including orientations, application testing, communications, and student support mechanisms, aligning with Pre-College Programs, University College, and Tufts strategy. The Manager engages in cross-functional collaboration with University College leadership, Pre-College Programs, Center for Professional and Workforce Impact, Marketing, and other teams. The position is a team player, ready to help where needed and problem-solve for the greater good of the University. Essential Duties Program Operations — Strategy and Implementation Develops and implements the operational strategy for 20+ pre-college programs serving 1000+ minor students. Assesses and improves operations; leads after-action reviews and communicates updates with all operational offices and UC teams. Negotiates and maintains partner relationships; implements adjustments and related communications. Manages external vendors (Residential Life, transportation, insurance, etc.) and leads contract revisions. Advises on policy related to staff, instructors, and high school student interactions; directs implementation to ensure compliance. Leads health services discussions, agreements with the insurance vendor, and processes for student coverage in coordination with Tufts offices. Supervises a temporary nurse and ensures on-campus vaccination clinic needs are met. Manages all financial aspects of vendor and partner engagement. Residential and On-Campus Life Designs and directs residential life processes in collaboration with internal and external partners, including move-in/move-out, on-call responsibilities, emergency management, programming, training, space optimization, dining, access/IDs, and related needs. Provides specialized knowledge to develop, implement, supervise, evaluate, and improve program operations. Directs a team of student workers and/or temporary staff. Communications Management Manages communications to and from students and families regarding operational topics, including emails, forms, tracking, website language, testing, and training materials. Collaborates on content and execution of Pre-College marketing events, information sessions, webinars, and orientations. Responds to parents\' concerns related to operations and on-campus experience. Optimizes use of tools and AI for timely, accurate responses to applicants, students, and parents. Uses analytics to assess performance and iterates to improve results. What We\'re Looking For Basic Requirements Bachelor\'s degree and 5–8 years in residential life, working with high school-aged students and/or undergraduates. Strong understanding of student development in practice. Direct experience with on-call crisis scenarios and supervision of residential staff. Ability to manage competing priorities and track many details to execute day-to-day operations. Strong project management and process improvement skills. Sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, and independent decision-making in sensitive matters. Excellent communications and relationship management with internal and external stakeholders. Experience with student-facing data platforms (e.g., Technolutions Slate, Oracle PeopleSoft SIS, Destiny One/Extended Education, StarRez, or similar). Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Collaborative, proactive team player attitude. Preferred Qualifications Master\'s degree and 8–10 years in related environments, especially Pre-College programs. Experience using social media, survey analysis tools, and various digital tools. This job involves responsibilities performed in a hybrid working environment. With manager approval, University College Pre-College Programs staff may work remotely up to three days per week from September through April. Staff may also work fully in-person if preferred. When business needs require it (e.g., onboarding, retreats, UC Roundtable), the role is expected to be in the office more frequently. The Manager may be required to be on campus 5 days/week from May through August when programs are in session, with a minimum of 3 days/week and on-call duties during this period. During peak programming, staff may work some night and weekend hours (planned or unplanned, remote and in-person) to support students and staff. Specific schedules will be planned with the Pre-College Programs Director. Pay Range Minimum $65,900; Midpoint $82,300; Maximum $98,800.
