Overview
HOOS ENFORCEMENT OFFICER TRAINING PROGRAM
provides structured coursework and paid on-the-job training as a full-time, benefitted Enforcement Officer with the University of Virginia's Department of Parking and Transportation. Enforcement Officers’ daily tasks include utilizing license plate reader (LPR) devices to write citations, assisting as a garage ambassador, sign shop worker, or with maintenance staff. Upon completion of training, employees will be onboarded at UVA, complete safety and security training and basic computer skills instruction, and have the necessary workplace and customer service skills to serve as an Enforcement Officer. After training, employees will undergo additional on-the-job training. Paid training includes: Orientation, Onboarding, and Benefits Safety and Security Training - threat assessment, active bystander, de-escalation, blood and body fluid hazards, biological hazards, etc. Workplace Readiness Training - customer service, dealing with upset customers, time management, teamwork, problem-solving, conflict resolution, professional etiquette, personal well-being, etc. Basic Computer Skills Training - basic computer and mobile device usage, navigating Workday for work-related functions, etc. Program participants will receive certifications: American Red Cross CPR/First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens and numerous LinkedIn and Coursera certificates. Enforcement at UVA Parking & Transportation is an integral part of the University's functionality. As an Enforcement Officer, your daily tasks may include utilizing license plate reader (LPR) devices to write citations, assisting as a garage ambassador, sign shop worker or assisting our maintenance staff. The successful candidate(s) will also possess excellent frontline customer service skills as you are the face of Parking at UVA. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. At least 8 months of prior work experience required. Experience gained during part-time work as a student may be considered. Experience does NOT have to be driving-related. A valid Driver's license is required with a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driving record points balance of 0 or better. Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in Spanish preferred Attention to detail Experience with data entry on computers/mobile phones Previous customer service/outside sales experience is preferred Demonstrated independent and critical thinking skills This position is located in Charlottesville, VA. The anticipated hiring range is $19.00 - $22.00 hourly, dependent upon education and experience. This is a non-exempt benefitted position. Safe operation of a state vehicle requires sustained sitting, driving, use of both hands, fine finger manipulation, and wrist movement. This position requires walking, in/out movement from vehicle, standing, and working in inclement weather conditions. The position requires traveling around the bus lot, driving a transit unit, manipulating cleaning equipment, and lifting equipment or parts as necessary. Work performed during special events and servicing the equipment requires standing, traveling, and the potential for bending, lifting, and carrying. All of these physical requirements should be considered essential to the position. Application Process
