The Outreach Coordinator position exists to strengthen public awareness, trust, and equitable access to the 988 Colorado Mental Health Line. Working closely with the 988 Marketing and Outreach Specialist and the broader 988 Team, this role supports statewide efforts to expand understanding of 988, reduce stigma, and engage diverse communities through events, campaigns, and partnerships. The position will coordinate outreach activities, develop and distribute materials, track engagement, and support grassroots strategies that ensure 988 reaches high‑risk and underserved populations. By advancing these priorities, the Outreach Coordinator helps establish 988 as Colorado’s trusted front door to behavioral health support. Job Duties

Support the 988 Marketing and Outreach Specialist in implementing statewide awareness, stigma reduction, and outreach strategies for the 988 Colorado Mental Health Line (Objectives 1–3). Assist with coordinating and staffing event outreach and sponsorship activations, including preparation, materials management, event setup/tear down, and representing 988 at community events. Provide logistical and operational support for statewide campaigns, including digital platforms, grassroots outreach, and storytelling initiatives. Participate in weekly marketing vendor meetings to assist the Specialist in ensuring alignment between vendors, the 988 Team, and community partners. Provide backup and day‑to‑day support to the Marketing and Outreach Specialist, campaign team, 988 Enterprise Board, creative agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent and effective messaging. Community and Board Engagement

Help monitor and respond to inquiries directed to the 988 email inbox; maintain outreach‑related communications. Provide support to the Specialist in coordinating community engagement and in‑person outreach events across Colorado. Serve as backup to the Marketing and Outreach Specialist for marketing and communications support, including assisting with media inquiries and coordination when the Specialist is unavailable. Other Duties as Assigned

This position may be called upon to perform tasks or undertake special assignments or projects deemed necessary by BHA, but not specifically referenced in the above duties. Experience and Education

Five years of relevant experience in an occupation related to marketing, communications, or outreach; or a combination of related education and/or relevant experience totaling five years. Preferred Experience Areas

Public or community outreach, behavioral health awareness, event coordination, campaign logistics, stakeholder engagement, and communications support in a public sector or nonprofit setting. Preferred Degree Areas

Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Behavioral Health, Public Health, or a closely related field. Preferred Qualifications and Essential Competencies

Event planning and community outreach experience in large‑scale or statewide initiatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging diverse audiences. Knowledge of behavioral health promotion, stigma reduction, or suicide prevention messaging. Strong organizational skills for tracking outreach metrics and logistics. Ability to represent 988 at public events with professionalism and cultural sensitivity. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and event tracking tools. Collaborative team mindset, flexibility, and attention to detail in fast‑paced environments. Conditions of Employment

Standard background check and references required. Motor Vehicle Check, if the employee will drive a state‑owned vehicle, either in an ongoing capacity while performing their normal day‑to‑day job duties, or on occasion for training/meetings/client visits/etc. Must possess a valid, non‑restricted Colorado Driver’s License or a non‑restricted U.S. Driver's License for positions within 30 miles of the CO state border. Out‑of‑State Driver’s License holders must obtain a valid, non‑restricted Colorado Driver’s License within 30 days of employment start date.
