Job Location: Arizona State Prison Complex Eyman, Arizona Correctional Industries (ACI), 4374 East Butte Avenue, Florence, Arizona 85132
Job Summary The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is hiring a Workforce Program Specialist to supervise workforce participants and inmates activities at ACI sites and in the community. This role involves supervising production in a manufacturing setting, maintaining security, and fostering a safe and efficient work environment.
Job Duties
Supervise workforce participants and community‑based work crews at ACI work sites.
Maintain the safety and security of participants and work crews through site, vehicle, pat, and strip‑searches.
Conduct continuous observations and accountability headcounts.
Oversee production activities and workforce conduct in manufacturing centers.
Coordinate with Regional Operations and Workforce Development Managers to align workforce efforts with production schedules and operational needs.
Review work output, provide coaching, and administer performance evaluations and discipline when necessary.
Maintain safe, orderly, and productive work sites and supervise civilian work‑crew leaders where applicable.
Ensure timely completion and submission of reports related to incidents, work performance, and operational issues.
Assist participants in gaining industry‑recognized credentials and accessing apprenticeship programs.
Monitor contractors for compliance with ACI contract obligations.
Partner with ACIs Training and Education Manager to help participants secure post‑release employment.
Drive state vehicles to transport participants, attend to worksite needs, or for state business.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of federal, state, and agency laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to the assignment.
Knowledge of principles and practices of inmate management and supervision.
Knowledge of problem‑solving and conflict resolution techniques, inventory controls, and search techniques.
Skill in applying laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Written and verbal communication.
Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
Problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and decision‑making.
Inventory control and search techniques.
Attention to detail; prioritization and time management.
Leadership and supervision.
Ability to
Lift/Carry approximately 20 lbs.
Push/Pull approximately 20 lbs.
Walk/Run approximately 0.25 miles.
Establish and maintain security, order, and discipline measures.
Work with and supervise inmates; maintain control of tools, equipment, and confidential information.
Diplomatically and tactfully respond to issues; maintain professional relationships.
Administer work evaluations and production reviews; evaluate documentation for accuracy.
Conduct various types of searches.
Work independently with minimal supervision, make sound decisions.
Adhere to ADCRR policies and procedures.
Provide clear instructions to inmate workers; safely transport inmates between facility and work location.
Selective Preference(s)
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience as a Correctional Officer or professional experience in correctional services or the criminal justice field.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement within 90 days.
Background investigation and drug test clearance required.
Pre‑Employment Requirements Employment is contingent on passing a background investigation and a drug test. Candidates separated from State Service for more than two (2) years must complete a training curriculum upon assignment.
