Vegetation Management Inspector (1 Year) - TRAQ
ACRT Pacific is currently seeking energetic entry‑level professionals who enjoy working outdoors. This full‑time opportunity is for individuals who would like to gain some forestry experience.
Location You must reside within 50 miles of Grass Valley, CA.
Duties & Responsibilities
Perform circuit patrols in accordance with the annual vegetation management plan.
Identify required tree work along PG&E rights‑of‑way and prescribe appropriate tree work.
Document inspections and ensure they meet applicable standards.
Notify property owners and agencies when tree work will occur and obtain necessary authorizations.
Act as the vegetation management contact for new business and reconstruction work requested by the energy delivery organization.
Perform work verification inspections to confirm tree work completion and quality.
Investigate and document tree‑related outages and attend outage meetings as requested.
Track, field‑check, prescribe work, and notify customers for non‑routine locations assigned from EC/LC notifications, gas OCW notifications, or customer care & billing cases.
Assist in close‑out of customer care & billing cases in the field.
Support emergency response as directed by OEC or level one operations, including dispatching tree crews and field‑checking sites.
Independently complete tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Support oversight of vegetation projects, including tree assessment, tree trimming, and other required work.
Participate in contractor safety and tailboard meetings.
Represent PG&E customer relations on behalf of the organization.
Co‑ordinate with contractors, communities, agencies, first responders, and all PG&E work groups and stakeholders involved in the successful completion of vegetation projects.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including permits, traffic control plans, railroad permits, Caltrans permits, and environmental protection measures.
Proficient in electronic devices and documentation; complete electronic and paper‑based documentation and reporting.
Basic Responsibility
Patrol distribution or transmission circuits and prescribe required tree work that complies with PG&E standards for at least one calendar year.
Determine when the next trim or removal is required and assess all trees for potential hazards and failure likelihood.
Identify, prescribe, and schedule tree pruning and brush removal work to meet all regulatory requirements and PG&E vegetation management standards.
Notify property owners of tree pruning and brush removal work and map circuits using PG&E continuity list.
Manage EC notifications and cases; perform outage investigations and obtain permits from public agencies, documenting work in the VMDSR or other PG&E assigned databases.
Use computers and associated software to enter data and process information from handheld devices.
Perform all necessary duties for emergency response in accordance with safety requirements, laws, regulations, and applicable labor agreements.
Maintain direct contact with PG&E division personnel, public agencies, and customers as directed by the PG&E representative.
Know and exemplify ACRT’s Guiding Principles.
Perform other duties as required.
Equipment, Environmental and Safety Requirements
Operate cars, trucks, forklifts, and other equipment.
Walk on uneven ground.
Exposed to noise, temperature extremes, humidity, and wetness.
Operate foot controls or repetitive foot movement.
Exposed to dust, gas, fumes, and chemicals.
Prolonged periods of sitting while driving, meetings, or training.
Use forestry‑related equipment such as clinometers, range finders, logger tape, DBH tape, and safety equipment like hard hats, safety vests, and safety glasses.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Class C driver’s license.
One year experience as a VMI or equivalent on a utility contract.
Active TRAQ certification.
All hires are subject to approval by PG&E representative.

Salary Range Disclaimer The base salary represents the wage ACRT Pacific pays for this position per the CBA. The base hourly amount for this role is $43.26 per hour. In addition, you will receive an in lieu of benefits amount of $10.82 per hour that is paid to you for every eligible hour worked. This means you will be compensated at $54.08 per hour in total.
