Supervisor - Haulaway Operations (Logistics)
Summary
The Supervisor - Haulaway Operations (Logistics) position will be responsible for managing and overseeing all trucking and rail logistics out of Savannah Port. They will work alongside the Port Operations and HMGMA team members to ensure vehicles are shipped out in the most expeditious manner, supporting our customer's wholesale objectives. They will be the direct liaison to all contracted truck carriers who operate at this facility and will assist in all day to day operations and ensure all shipping KPIs such as Dwell Management are met or exceeded. They will also support GLOVIS HQ with correspondences with customer sales regions and any special projects.
Responsibilities
Monitor truck carrier dwell performance at the plant and resolve any issues preventing carriers from shipping units in a timely manner
Take appropriate action to maintain truck carrier dwell within acceptable limits and meet/exceed our department KPIs
Monitor and track vehicle shipments in transit from origins to final destinations
Convert units normally assigned to rail over to truck as needed/requested by management and support faster transit times and deliveries
Work alongside Rail Operations team to ensure railcar supply is met on a daily basis
If railcar supply is not met, recovery plans should be made to make up shortfall in shipments from prior day
Ensure units are processed and released for truck carriers in an even flow based on the carrier network distribution as well as by sales regions
Utilize third party and backup carriers as needed when contracted carriers fail to meet their shipping obligations
Support HQ team with regular optimization reviews on transportation/carrier network and recommend necessary changes to improve network performance
Assist in conducting trucking optimization studies, in effort to ship vehicles to destinations in the most cost-effective and expeditious manner
Ensure Special Event or VIP units are processed in a timely manner and coordinate with the HQ team to ensure Special Move vehicles are picked up and delivered on time
Provide daily correspondence and report to HQ on the day to day trucking operations in the US Southeast
Track market trends of other OEMs and their sales initiatives, understanding how these can impact GLOVIS shipping
Support Export shipping operations out of Savannah Plant, ensuring truck carriers meet all deadlines and we meet all contractual obligations
Correspond with customer Sales Regions and support with any requests as needed
Support Truck and Rail Test Loading for New Models and ensure all parties follow all vehicle handling procedures as stated in the handling manuals
Ensure truck carriers operate in the yard safely and follow all rules and procedures set forth by the VPC
Support carriers with damaged, missing, or inoperable vehicles and ensure units are returned to shippable status as soon as possible
Provide network insight and suggestions on RFQ preparation and assist in approving new carrier selections
Compensation Range: $69,000 - $78,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient level PC skills
Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, along with experience using database systems
Advanced level knowledge preferred
Strong ability to identify and correct errors
Detail oriented with ability to work in deadline-driven environment
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in fast paced environment
Ability to train and mentor new employees
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree Required
5 - 8 Years of Experience Relating to Logistics, Trucking, Auto Hauling, Supply Chain, and/or Third Party Brokerage Required
6 - 9 Years of Experience Preferred
1 - 3 Years of Supervisor Experience Required
