Job Description And Duties Under the supervision of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will be required to service, maintain and operate category 2 equipment requiring a Class B commercial driver’s license with tank endorsement. The incumbent will make minor adjustments and/or emergency repairs to maintain equipment used for highway maintenance. The incumbent must be willing to work non-traditional work schedules to accommodate special events, emergencies or projects that affect the region or Caltrans. The incumbent must remain on a set schedule as directed by management.
Special Requirements
Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) required; applicant must provide CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
Drug screening must be passed prior to being hired.
Basic knowledge of automobiles and trucks, different types of transmission systems, traction control systems, and the ability to make on‑spot decisions is required.
Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
Passenger endorsement desirable.
Possession of a valid unrestricted Class B commercial driver’s license with Tank Vehicle (N) endorsement.
Qualifications Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification(s). Combination of education, training, experience, and related skills will be considered. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable; foreign transcripts may be evaluated with an equivalency report.
