Job Summary The Coordinator of Sports oversees all intramural and sport club programming within the facility. The Coordinator is a key part in fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and engaging recreational sports environment for students, staff, and faculty.
Duties
Creates, plans, schedules, promotes, conducts, and evaluates intramural sports leagues, tournaments, special events, sport club practices, and league competitions
Creates, plans, schedules, promotes, conducts, and evaluates intramural sports leagues, tournaments, special events, sport club practices, and league competitions
Assists in the development and facilitation of training sessions, including: All-staff training for student employees; Educational workshops
Recruits, hires, supervises, trains, and schedules sports program staff
Coordinates monthly, semi-annual, and annual training for sports staff, club coaches, and club officers
Oversees payroll, travel arrangements, and contract procedures for staff, contractors, and sports clubs
Assists with budget planning and procurement of equipment for sports events and programming
Maintains usage data for all sports programs and conducts semi-annual and annual program assessments
Engages daily with students, staff, and sport club officers to support program success
Coordinates and facilitates sports programming for new and returning students, staff, and faculty
Supports Sports and Fitness operations with program reservations, facility maintenance coordination, and risk management initiatives
Marginal Duties
Performs other duties as assigned
Seasonal Evenings and Weekend shifts are required
Supervisory Responsibilities Direct Reports:
Part-time employees
Delegation of Work:
Occasionally assigns work to subordinate(s)
Supervision Given:
Makes final decision on evaluating employee performance; scheduling work hours of other employees; on coaching and counseling; training; handling employee grievances and complaints; granting time off
Provides recommendations on promotions; salary increases; hiring new employees; discharging employees; and disciplinary actions
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree
Required Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of job-related experience
License/Certification:
American Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid certifications and instructor certifications, if not already certified, must obtain with 6 months of employment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge:
Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position
Knowledge of best practices in Officials Training and development and oversight of sports leagues
Knowledge of the use of IM Leagues
Skills:
Candidates must have strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Abilities:
Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
Work Location and Physical Demands
Primary Work Location:
Works in gymnasium or other physical training rooms 2 to 4 hours; sports field or courts 2 to 4 hours
Physical Demands:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements
Position is physically comfortable; individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks
