Job Description
The Mechanical Maintenance Manager manages the Spring Grove Mill’s Mechanical shops effectively encompassing the performance of preventative maintenance, repair, and installation of equipment in the assigned area of responsibility and other related duties as assigned. He/she ensures responsive and proactive maintenance support to all plant operations partners by implementing sound work management processes. He/she is responsible for contributing to departmental budgeting, professional and technical development of his/her assigned salaried and hourly associates.
Role and Responsibilities
Champion safety awareness, hazard identification, and corrective action follow-up in all maintenance activities.
Lead and set expectations for precision maintenance work, audit for compliance and drive adherence to reliability standards.
Conduct and enforce discipline within the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process to prevent recurrence of failures.
Represent Maintenance in daily production reviews and cross-functional planning with operations, engineering, and procurement.
Plan, schedule, and oversee maintenance projects, preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM), and reliability initiatives.
Review work-order backlog, recommend addition or replacement of equipment, and ensure prioritization aligns with operational goals.
Provide input to annual outage planning, budgeting, and capital (CapEx) project development.
Manage staffing, scheduling, and workload distribution for the mechanical shops to meet variable production demands and deadlines.
Mentor, train, and develop personnel to maintain strong technical capability and readiness; lead succession planning.
Manage requisitions, purchasing, invoice approvals, and budget compliance for maintenance activities.
Drive continuous improvement as a change agent by promoting workflow optimization, precision work practices, 6S, and reliability culture.
Maintain compliance with environmental, ISO, and corporate policies.
Serve as a member of the Pixelle Industrial Fire Team for fire prevention and response as required.
Remain available for 24-hour on-call maintenance support.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
SAP, SAP-PM or other software experience is preferred
Ability to work both independently and as a team member
Knowledge of safety hazards and appropriate precautions applicable to work assignments
Ability to wear respirator safety equipment
Ability to wear protective clothing as required by prevailing conditions
Ability to read, interpret and apply information from files, drawings, catalogs, reports and manuals.
Must possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
