What To Expect
At Tesla, material must move seamlessly from supplier to production line: in transit, at yards, through security gates, onto docks, into inventory, and finally to the line. The Material Flow System (MFS) is the backbone that makes this pipeline reliable, auditable, and efficient. As a Project Manager – Material Flow Systems, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining the system logic that controls this entire process. From transit visibility to dock receiving, inventory inflation, supplier payment triggers, warehouse logic, and line delivery, you will ensure that every step is supported by robust systems and aligned with Lean principles. This role requires a unique combination of system expertise, process design, and supply chain knowledge. You will partner with IT, Production Control, Logistics, Finance, and Operations to ensure that MFS is not only stable and accurate, but also continuously improving to meet the demands of Tesla’s manufacturing growth.
What You'll Do
Lead design and implementation of Tesla’s MFS to coordinate material flow from supplier transit through final line delivery. Develop system logic for inbound visibility, security gate control, dock allocation, receiving processes, inventory updates, document matching, and supplier payment triggers
Optimize warehouse and line delivery logic to ensure FIFO compliance, ergonomic handling, and uninterrupted production
Work with IT and ERP teams to integrate MFS with upstream and downstream systems (procurement, finance, production)
Ensure audit compliance by building reliable system records for inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and financial reconciliation
Lead system improvement projects to simplify processes, reduce manual workarounds, and eliminate sources of error
Train and support teams (engineers, supervisors, material handlers) on using MFS effectively, ensuring knowledge transfer and long-term sustainability
Drive cross-functional alignment with Finance (for supplier payments), Quality (for part validations), and Production (for line delivery accuracy)
What You'll Bring
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, IT Systems, or equivalent experience
Strong experience in ERP/MFS or WMS systems design and implementation
Proficiency with SQL, Tableau/BI tools, Python, and system logic design
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in material flow, inventory systems, or supply chain execution systems
Solid understanding of end-to-end supply chain: transit, yard management, receiving, inventory, warehousing, line delivery and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, FIFO, PDCA, Kaizen, JIT)
Strong analytical, process design, and problem-solving skills and Excellent communication skills and proven ability to manage cross-functional projects
