The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) protects public health by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and storm water, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP\'s water supply system includes 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes within a 2,000 square mile watershed extending 125 miles north and west of the City. The Bureau of Engineering Design & Construction (BEDC) oversees a portfolio of capital projects valued at $35B, with another $13.6B projected over the next 10-year plan. BEDC delivers a multibillion-dollar capital program to provide new infrastructure and reconstruction of existing assets across DEP\'s network of wastewater treatment plants, dams, bridges, shafts, reservoirs, tunnels, pumping stations, ultraviolet disinfection systems, and related facilities throughout New York City and its watershed. BEDC seeks to hire an Assistant Electrical Engineer to be an Assistant Project Manager for the WSCP directorate, located in the upstate watershed. Under direct supervision of the Accountable Manager, the selected candidate will assist in supervising water and wastewater system projects within the watershed (125 miles north and west of the City). Projects may include dams, aqueducts, wastewater treatment plants, bridges, roadways or other infrastructure. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating and directing the design and construction of projects, monitoring permit requirements, resolving project issues, and conducting field condition surveys with accurate reporting. The role includes reviewing contract documents, codes and regulations to identify deficiencies and participating in field investigations to develop alternatives. The candidate will work with the construction management team to perform inspections and attend required environmental compliance and safety training. The selected candidate may be required to work extended days and perform field work which may involve standing and walking on uneven surfaces, steep slopes, stairs, and exposure to all weather conditions. Responsibilities

Assist in supervising water and wastewater system projects within the watershed (125 miles north and west of the City). Plan, coordinate and direct the design and construction of projects. Monitor permit requirements and assist in resolving project issues. Conduct field condition surveys and prepare accurate reports on physical observations. Review contract documents, codes and regulations to identify deficiencies. Actively participate in field investigations to develop alternative approaches and solutions. Work with the construction management team to perform inspections of construction activity. Attend required environmental compliance and safety training. Qualifications

A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in electrical engineering work; or A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college and a master\'s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university (master\'s degree can substitute for one year of experience). A degree in any other engineering area is not acceptable for this role. Additional Information
