Do you have a demonstrated ability to drive process improvement and lead change? Penske Logistics is seeking a proven leader with relevant experience and skills to join our team of logistics professionals. We are seeking a candidate to provide leadership at one of our warehousing operations.
In this role, the Operations Supervisor provides direction at a single location, leading staff to ensure customer requirements are achieved while meeting Penske goals and objectives. Operations Supervisors are bonus eligible based on performance and location performance. Operations Supervisors could earn up to 12% of their base for Max Performance.
High-level Requirements – Looking for a professional Warehouse Operations Supervisor with the ability to engage and effectively communicate. English/Spanish (bilingual) experience preferred. High level ability to multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment. Proven skills to foster a positive, accountable environment through coaching and team building skills. Strong sense of urgency, capable to lead 60+ associates, while multi-tasking between needs of key stakeholders, operations, and associates in various warehouse roles. Tuesday – Saturday – 4:30 am – 4pm (flexibility with work schedule/shift based on business needs). Salary range $70–$75K – performance 12% maxed.
Position Summary:
Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure the execution of daily tasks and activities including loading/unloading of trailers, cross-docking, and customer service operations in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives. Supervise most processes directly including workforce and equipment scheduling. Responsible for making corrective action and disciplinary decisions up to written warning level. Involved in the hiring process and customer meetings as necessary.
Major Responsibilities:
People:
Establish and sustain training and competency; communicate performance standards; interview hourly associates; monitor attendance and productivity; provide coaching and counseling; motivate and engage associates.
Operations:
Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch and proper documentation; conduct team meetings; evaluate and recommend changes in preferred work methods; provide relief coverage; have thorough working knowledge of site operating systems; complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
Finance:
Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures such as inventory accuracy and control; understand relationship between decision-making and profitability; manage associate working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
Safety:
Ensure day‑day management and associate activities align with the location safety strategy; provide training, feedback and direction; conduct safety observations.
Growth/Customer Experience:
Understand location‑specific customer goals and work to meet and exceed expectations daily; determine areas that could benefit from continuous improvement efforts.
Fleet/Assets:
Plan work assignments to effectively use warehouse equipment; ensure associates understand equipment operation; maintain equipment with vendors; other projects and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
2–4 years related functional experience.
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Strong written and oral communication skills; active listening required.
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Ownership & responsibility to run the operation with a sense of urgency.
Build rapport and relationships with associates and external customers at all levels.
Efficient time management and organizational skills.
Problem‑solving and independent decision making.
Process improvement and change leadership.
Experience with inventory management system preferred.
Regular, predictable full attendance essential.
Willingness to travel as necessary; required schedule and location compliance; complete application; background and drug screening required.
