Overview Head Coach, JV Girls Flag Football – Kamehameha Schools

Temporary Seasonal (Fixed Term) position for the 2025-2026 school year, with season dates between February and May. The role is paid a one-time stipend of $4,578.00.

Aloha mai! Mahalo for your interest in Kamehameha Schools. We are seeking a head coach to support the JV Girls Flag Football program and to contribute to the development of student-athletes within KS’s athletics philosophy.

Job Summary Responsible for the coordination or assist with the coordination of the KS Athletic Sports program, including coaching, instructing students, and performing duties necessary to the development of players and teams in alignment with KS values.

Essential Responsibilities

Demonstrates thorough knowledge of sport including rules, regulations, skills, tactics, and techniques; translates knowledge to athletes and evaluates performance and progress; teaches individual and team skills; identifies observable outcomes besides winning or losing; helps athletes reach their full potential; addresses individual needs while maintaining team needs.

Organizes and supervises well-planned, safe practices and games; prepares the team for competitions.

Conducts self in an ethical, professional manner and serves as a positive role model; motivates and inspires athletes; maintains a positive attitude.

Develops team concepts within KS values; promotes sportsmanship, respect for game rules and officials; balances skill development with team concepts.

Provides an enjoyable environment and experience for athletes; supports their growth and development.

Handles administrative responsibilities such as resolving disciplinary issues, ensuring student-athlete medical and academic eligibility, and completing administrative duties (e.g., grade checks, records, timesheets, HR requirements); maintains equipment and assists with planning and budgeting; inventories equipment.

Communicates effectively with athletes, parents, faculty, administrators, other coaches, and the community; promotes the program locally and within the state.

Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum of 1 year experience in coaching.

NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to relate to students, coaches, KS staff, physicians, parents, teachers, and administrators.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.

Previous coaching experience.

Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in high school or collegiate athletics.

Coaching experience at high school or collegiate level.

Sensitivity to Hawaiian culture and Christian values.

Physical and Working Conditions

Physical activity including walking, standing, running, bending, crouching, reaching, lifting, carrying.

May involve travel to various locations, including neighbor islands.

Work typically conducted in an office/school environment; may occur in non-standard workplaces.

Evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
