DAVIS Construction is expanding with a new office in Charlotte, NC, and we are seeking a dynamic Preconstruction/Business Development Executive to lead regional project procurement and business development initiatives across the Carolinas, including markets such as Asheville, Raleigh, Durham, Greenville, Columbia, and Charleston. The selected candidate will promote DAVIS’ services, identify new business opportunities, guide projects from design through construction, and maintain client relationships to support successful project delivery. Responsibilities

Perform responsibilities with excellence in service, inclusion, integrity and building relationships in DAVIS core values. Champion the DAVIS culture. Counsel, mentor and coach staff to develop key job skills. Partner with corporate and project management to determine bid strategies and project types. Attend and actively participate in industry organizations and events. Maintain up-to-date geographic marketing materials and templates. Understand pursuit/preconstruction costs related to potential project fees and ensure deliverables align with project requirements. Build and maintain relationships supporting project acquisition to advance the corporate growth plan. Identify, develop and maintain partnerships with small, local, and disadvantaged business enterprises. Business Development Leadership

Identify, engage and develop relationships with new clients to create project opportunities; maintain existing client relationships for potential opportunities. Represent DAVIS with clients and participate in business development and customer engagement initiatives. Lead project pursuit efforts ensuring completeness, timeliness, quality, and alignment with project requirements. Coordinate with operations to meet pursuit deadlines; leverage knowledge of DAVIS projects and history to inform strategic initiatives. Collaborate with senior leadership, estimating, operations and internal resource groups on pursuits. Review opportunity information for alignment with corporate plans and market sector strategies. Manage resource planning for pursuit responses and interviews; analyze opportunities won/lost to inform future pursuits. Stay informed on procurement trends and client knowledge to guide strategic pursuit of new work. Lead and participate in client presentations and pursuit kick-off meetings; manage pursuit deliverables using CRM. Coordinate deliverables with preconstruction, estimating and pursuits teams; prepare subcontractor Scope Responsibility Matrix for bids. Preconstruction Expertise

Collaborate with Preconstruction and Estimating teams to ensure consistency in pricing, scope development, templates, and market alignment. Perform conceptual estimates, budgets, schedules, and work plans; schedule projects considering design durations, permitting, procurement, and construction. Apply knowledge of construction types, methods, and systems; provide constructability reviews and value engineering ideas. Leverage trade partner and supplier relationships; expand prequalified subcontractor pool with Risk Management and diversity goals. Understand trends in trade costs and material/manpower availability; organize historical data consistently. Corporate Planning

Understand DAVIS corporate plans and market strategies; work with leadership to analyze forecast and pursuit costs. Participate in future business planning; review market research to present work plans to the BD Committee and leadership. Understand indicators for market sector and corporate forecast impacts; assist communications on corporate plans and DAVIS product lines. Manage department functions including budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments and performance appraisals; contribute to retention and recruitment efforts; perform production work as required. Required: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field.* 10–15 years of experience with expertise in at least three of: multi-family, life sciences, government, education, healthcare, base building, office and interior construction/renovation.* Experience leading Design-Bid-Build, GMP, and Design-Build project acquisition and delivery. Understanding of sustainable concepts (NetZero, Carbon Neutral, Passive House, etc.). Strong technical writing ability; experience with take-off software (e.g., Togal.ai) and PDF editing (e.g., Bluebeam). Leadership experience; mentoring and problem-solving skills; strong written and verbal communication; proficient in MS Office. Procore, Building Connected, and Primavera software familiarity. Interest in sustainability and community service. Salary & Benefits

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is

$155,000.00 - $185,000.00 . DAVIS offers a comprehensive benefits package including

100% employer-paid health care (family coverage) , life insurance, disability benefits, annual incentive bonus, PTO and holidays, 401(k)/Roth/ESOP, FSAs, fertility/family-forming assistance, continuing education, EAP, on-site fitness center, parental leave, and a company vehicle or auto allowance where eligible.
