Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Manager at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL will have full authority over all operations and maintenance activities of the maintenance department.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership, mentorship, supervision, and training to assigned staff.
Use and coordinate the CMMS program.
Plan, coordinate, control, and direct operations and activities in preventive, scheduled, and adaptive maintenance of all college facilities, utility systems, and equipment (carpentry, electrical work, HVAC, construction, plumbing, painting, etc.).
Inspect completed projects for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established requirements and specifications, ensuring alignment with laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Assist with the preparation and submission of statistical and narrative reports, including long‑range facility plan, five‑year capital plan, schedule maintenance program, facility specification, and board projects.
Supervise, evaluate, and coordinate the work of assigned personnel.
Participate in recruitment, interview, and hire processes; recommend transfers, reassignments, and disciplinary action as needed.
Establish and maintain systems to train staff to meet performance and safety standards.
Develop and maintain annual departmental budgets.
Maintain blueprints, specifications, and system plans and drawings.
Manage the University BAS system.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Validated experience in maintenance management.
Proficiency in facilities management, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, BAS systems, and CMMS.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to empower and develop a team.
