Crime Gun Intelligence Coordinator

Overview
Coordinate the Albuquerque’s Police Department’s Crime Gun Intelligence (CGI) program, including National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) submissions, firearm tracing, and triage of crime guns and shooting incidents. The position analyzes firearm-related crime data, develops actionable intelligence, and supports investigative units and partner agencies in identifying crime patterns, linking cases, and reducing gun violence. This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing. Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Forensic Science, Intelligence Studies or a related field;
and Three (3) years of data analysis, crime statistics, crime analysis, auditing, or conducting criminal or firearms investigations experience;
and To include
two (2) years of supervisory experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from hire date. Experience working with the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN), ATF’s eTrace, and other firearm-tracking or intelligence system preferred. Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, regulations, and polices governing firearms evidence handling and information sharing Principles and practices of crime analysis, investigative support, and criminal intelligence gathering Methods and techniques for compiling, interpreting, and presenting statistical and analytical data Law enforcement and intelligence databases, query methods, and data validation techniques Principles of data collection and analysis Principles and practices of crime gun intelligence operations Methods and techniques of crime gun intelligence process, including NIBIN, NESS, and ATF’s eTrace Principles, practices, methodologies and techniques of gun violence activity Principles and practices of specialized investigation unit’s workflows (e.g. Homicide, GVRU, Gangs) Methods and techniques to identify crime gun trends, spatial patterns, and investigative leads Principles of chain of custody evidence Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation Modern office equipment including computers Conduct comprehensive searches, analyses, and linkages in firearms and criminal history databases Maintain accurate and secure documentation of firearm evidence, intelligence products, and investigative logs Use crime analysis tools and mapping software to identify crime gun trends, spatial patterns and investigative leads Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff Communicate clearly and concisely Prepare clear, concise, and actionable intelligence reports and briefings Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contracted in the course of work Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
