About The Job The Tepa Companies are seeking a Senior Quality Control Manager who is responsible for the overall management of project site quality control, including assessing and controlling risk; testing and compliance; planning and directing the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for processes, materials, and products; and initiating improvement related to quality assurance findings.
Job Functions
Updates and maintains the project submittal log and all other project specific quality control reporting utilizing RMS (Construction Contractor Module of RMS, referred to as QCS) to record, maintain, and submit various information throughout the contract period.
Reviews shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary.
Provides written daily QC reports that reinforce work activities are being constructed in conformance with each project\'s established standard and confront non-conformance to produce requirements that comply with the contract.
Conducts preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work. Verifies that plans, procedures, and the proper document checklists are used and signed off prior to the definable features of work as described in the submittal register.
Verifies and documents that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use in the project.
Conducts required meetings with the USACE, superintendent, and the foreman responsible for the definable work prior to the start of each new phase of the work. Documents these meetings in the daily QC report.
Performs specified or required tests to verify that control measures are adequate to provide a product which conforms to contract requirements.
Schedules, documents the results of, and maintains a log of all inspections that are required to conform to the project contract requirements. Documents, corrects, and re-inspects all non-conformances prior to covering up work.
Works with the project superintendent and maintains the project "as-built" drawings on a daily basis.
Assembles and forwards project closeout documents.
Stops work if necessary to resolve matters that affect safety, quality and/or inhibit the logical progress of work.
Assists Project Manager with change order proposal pricing and with project schedules as necessary.
Assists Project Manager with subcontractor selection and with project, client, and subcontractor conflict resolution, has decision-making authority on site as delegated by Project Manager and General Manager.
Participates in cure process when necessary and helps train QC Managers as necessary.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
10+ years of construction management experience.
Proven experience establishing and maintaining effective quality control systems in compliance with contract requirements on USACE and other federal projects, including field oversight of construction site work activities.
Experience using Army RMS/QCS system.
Working knowledge of road construction, building and construction materials, methods, terminology, and the tools involved in construction, repair, or remodeling of structures and sites.
Strong knowledge of project plans, specifications, shop drawings, samples, and testing to assist in quality control management.
Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry and ability to create and administer new QC programs.
Ability to manage time efficiently and communicate professionally (verbal and written).
Current credentials showing completion of the course “Construction Quality Management for Contractors” offered by USACE and OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety & Health training within the last 5 years.
First aid/CPR certification.
