The Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) Deputy Business Administrator works under the Division’s Business Administrator to provide high‑level leadership and direction to execute financial, operational, and strategic initiatives for the Division. This position is responsible for directing the operations, logistics, and strategic initiatives of multiple teams, including budget and fund accounting, operations forecasting and planning, and facilities management. This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department’s business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties

Assist with oversight & management of Division’s accounting, finance, data analytics, information and reporting; A/P; purchasing & facilities.

Work closely with Fiscal/Finance Manager to analyze performance of procurement activities against various procurement indicators.

Plan, organize and assign work, establish priorities, & assure realistic completion schedules are developed, documented & communicated to all stakeholders.

Coach and mentor staff towards a continuous improvement culture that fosters daily improvement involving all team members.

Assist with recognizing, managing, and mitigating risk; monitor any open legal issues involving the Division that affect the delivery of services, construct and monitor reliable control systems.

Selective Preference(s)

Requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, public administration, or related field and 3 years of experience managing budget/finances of a complex organization; OR

1 year as a Financial Analyst 3 in Arizona State Gov't. Supervisory experience is required. Two years of additional work experience noted above substitutes for the bachelor’s degree.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

In‑state travel may be required. Driver’s License Requirements: Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class‑appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks.

Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above‑mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

Retirement State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long‑Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27‑week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life‑long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax‑deferred retirement investments.
