Airport Project Manager (PM) VRX is currently seeking an Airport Project Manager with aviation runway, taxiway, airport operations, and/or related experience. Candidate should have 5 to 10 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager, guiding design, construction, inspection, and quality assurance on airfield runway and taxiway projects (i.e., concrete, drainage, grading and lighting, communicating with airport operation personnel, etc.).
Job Responsibilities
Assist Airport Planning in developing initial project documents including capital budget estimates, schedules, SMBR requirements and defining the scope of work and project management plan.
Coordinate with other Airport departments (i.e., Capital Delivery, CPEAT, DSD, Finance, etc.).
Perform QC checks on own work product and that of staff.
Prepare RFQ and/or RFP packages for design and/or construction services and coordinate review with client staff. Assist with presentation development, ATC meetings, council preparation & RCA documentation.
Perform planning coordination & stakeholder design coordination.
Evaluate PDD scope of work and recommend modifications as the project evolves to stay within predetermined budgeting and scheduling parameters.
Report on progress (Weekly Status Report, Integrated Program Schedule, Airline Technical Committee ATC, etc.).
Support and supervise outreach activities for CMAR/Design-Builder.
Review and approve invoices.
Obtain/procure design, construction, QA/QC services and services provided by consultants or contractors.
Coordinate project permitting and approval process through various local, state and federal authorities.
Assist in coordination with the project design team, and coordinate client and stakeholder reviews, and secure agreements with stakeholders.
Analyze and manage eCAPRIS reports including cost, earnings, and contingency.
Manage the project’s budget, the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) review and negotiations when required.
Understand contract requirements, airport design intent, municipal requirements, etc.
Oversee collaboration with pre‑construction and design teams to prepare, review and monitor plans & information related to all costs involved in developing the project’s budget.
Manage the contract change order process including review of contractor estimates, negotiate change orders and obtain required approvals.
Work with Finance to initiate pay‑application process and follow up to ensure payment is received timely.
Attend contractor progress (OAC) meetings, punch walks, mockup reviews, etc.
Review scope changes; obtain estimates for changes from subcontractors; submit CORs for approval.
Manage proposed change orders, claims, modifications to the plans, RFIs, submittals, RFQs and RFPs.
Close out design review process and support field activities for the Construction Manager.
Manage the close‑out process. Prepare final records for the project like As‑Built Drawings, Operation & Maintenance Manuals, Warranties, etc. for successful project turnover.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
5 to 10 years of project management experience on aviation/transportation improvement projects.
Preferred Licenses/Certifications – PE, CCM, PMP.
Experience providing constructability review comments.
P6 proficiency.
Must be able to obtain airport SIDA clearance and qualify to drive in Airfield Operations Area, if required.
Must have good communication skills.
