Responsibilities

Maintains HVAC systems – 80%: Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs and performs preventative maintenance on all heating, air conditioning, ice making, refrigeration, and ventilation systems. Maintains and applies current knowledge of steam distribution, piping, valves, chilled and hot water reheat systems and Pressure Reducing Value (PRV) operation. Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance. Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. Maintains knowledge of departmental equipment procedures for power outages. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations. Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition. May coordinate, maintain and repair all energy management systems. Special Projects

Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. Assists with special projects as assigned. Qualifications

One of the following is required: EPA Certification (level II preferred) - required; Steam License (High Pressure Boiler Operator, Third Class Steam, Second Class Steam, First Class Steam); Refrigeration License (Third Class Refrigeration, Second Class Refrigeration, First Class Refrigeration); Mechanical Contractor License. And one or more of the following: High School Diploma or equivalent; Graduate of trade school; 3 years’ relevant experience; Other equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.
