Fort Walton Machining, Inc. was formed in 1987 as a specialized custom manufacturing operation, specifically to service Eglin Air Force Base and its prime contractors. It began as a small company with only two employees, but its mission—to provide highly technical, precision machining with zero defects, delivered on time, and to the complete satisfaction of its customers—remains today. Fort Walton Machining is certified to AS9100 Quality Standards and also meets government and military standards such as MIL-I-45208A. The company has supported the Air Force AMRAAM project and has grown into an international service company supporting customers around the world.
Summary:
The dimensional and visual inspection and testing of incoming components and related materials used in the manufacturing, machining, metal finishing or assembling of products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform complex inspection activities, to assess conformance of products to the design or specification as defined by the engineering drawings, specification or shop order.
Inspect materials, components, and other items to ensure conformance to requirements.
Perform material movement transactions after completing inspection process.
Create non-conformance reports for products that do not meet requirements.
Ability to recognize problems/defects and provide feedback to production, quality, and accounting.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications Education and/or Experience High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
