Post Graduate Fellow – Stay Housed LA Project
Join the National Legal Aid & Defender Association as a Post Graduate Fellow for the Stay Housed LA Project. This 2-year fellowship (with option to continue) begins in Fall 2026.
About the role
Stay Housed L.A is a partnership between Los Angeles County, the City of Los Angeles, and community and legal service providers to implement a county-wide right‑to‑counsel program. The fellow will defend tenants against eviction in cases filed in the Stanley Mosk, Chatsworth, Van Nuys, Pasadena, Antelope Valley, and West Covina courthouses.
In this role, you will report to the Associate Supervising Attorney. The position is exempt, temporary, and hybrid (minimum two days in office per week).
What You’ll Do
Assist with defending tenants against eviction in all stages of litigation.
Interview and counsel clients affected by housing issues.
Participate in clinics and community outreach projects.
Work on policy issues related to eviction and/or housing.
Represent subsidized housing clients in administrative hearings and writs.
Travel to NLSLA branch offices, courts, government agencies, shelters, and community organizations throughout Los Angeles County as required.
Qualifications
Current 3Ls or recent law school graduates.
A passion for social justice and community service.
Strong legal research, analysis, and communication skills.
Experience or interest in housing law preferred.
Location : Los Angeles, CA
Salary : $250,000.00 – $530,000.00 (limited details provided)
