Overview Patient Service Representative reports to the Practice Manager. Oversees and verifies financial processes associated with patient services. Greets patients, performs registration check‑in, answers phones, schedules appointments, obtains referrals and authorizations, processes forms, and performs discharge process.
Responsibilities
Oversee patient financial process to obtain payments at time of service
Verify required information (demographics, referrals, authorizations, billing codes, diagnoses)
Complete end‑of‑day batch and reconcile patient schedule and payments
Provide clerical support and orient new employees regarding department policies and procedures
Maintain quality, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with department policies
Protect patient privacy and confidentiality
Travel to satellite offices as needed
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
Two years experience in a physician's medical office practice
Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a two‑year Medical Office Management/Medical Secretary program or equivalent experience
Proficient in English language and computer appointment scheduling skills
Familiarity with medical office procedures and medical terminology
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Work Environment
Healthcare environment such as physician's medical office practice
Works with medical office equipment and has direct patient contact
Walks and stands intermittently throughout the day
May lift and position patients, and lift supplies up to 50 pounds
May be exposed to electrical and energy hazards
