BASIC FUNCTION: The Product Line Manager will manage the product and portfolio, product roadmap, develop differentiated value propositions, integrate marketing plans, forecast, and interface with technical support and product/process technology. The incumbent manages the product line strategic roadmap, including structured product development, product improvement, product rationalization, and communication through an integrated market communication plan.

NATURE AND SCOPE: This position reports directly to the Marketing Director. The incumbent is responsible for product lifecycle management relative to the defined differentiated value proposition. The incumbent must participate in development of product forecasting and manage the product line portfolio including structured product development, product improvement and product rationalization. In short, the role is responsible to manage the product line strategic roadmap. In performing these tasks the individual will need to participate in product certifications, development of standards and definitions, interface with both manufacturing and technical support, collaborate with strategic pricing, and drive the development of integrated market communications plan.

Qualifications for this position include a minimum of 10 years of product developmentm, quality management and/or operations, and product management experience in steel or steel-related industries (construction, manufacturing, metals distribution, etc.). Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or relevant technical discipline. Incumbent must demonstrate skills and knowledge of qualitative and quantitative problem solving techniques. Collaborative communication skills and ability to communicate with all business areas at various levels.

Primary Responsibilities: • Overall growth, profitability and market share of product line. • Utilize New Product Development Stage Gate decision process to oversee the validation of performance at each phase of new product development. • Establish effective price strategies and promotions to grow the business in the product areas. • Develop product innovation funnel roadmap • Develop and deploy product integrated marketing plans • Guarantee competitiveness of the product line in the segments in which we participate. • In depth knowledge of product attributes and applications. • Deep understanding of our competitiveness relative to next best alternatives. • Develop and execute product line roadmap and strategy including product portfolio and Strategic Pricing. • Develop product demand forecasts, evaluate new product potential and manage new product development through the stage gate methodology. • Internalize our differentiated value propositions translating into strategies and tactics for the various parts of the organization (production, SOP, sales, logistics, etc.) • Develop and manage competitive product intelligence, product research, and participate in the development of Standards and Certifications • Coordinate with Marketing Communications to design digital media (website, microsite) and catalogs, brochures, etc. and manage the Integrated Marketing Plan Gerdau believes in equal employment opportunity related to all employees and applicants for employment.
