This position may be filled as a probational appointment or promotion of a permanent classified employee of Louisiana State Government.
The position may be filled as:
DETAIL : The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT : This position may be filled by temporary job appointment.
PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT : Current permanent status classified State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment, if selected.
This position has a Special Entrance Rate at each level:
Social Worker 1 has an SER of $23.75 per hour.
Social Worker 2 has an SER of $25.42 per hour.
Social Worker 3 has an SER of $27.20 per hour.
Social Worker 4 has an SER of $29.10 per hour.
There is Premium Pay for this position: a rate between $2.00 and $5.00 an hour for each regular hour worked, based on years of service with DOC.

Exams and License Requirements :
No Civil Service Test Score is required.
Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD-214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
SALARY DEPENDS ON LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE : As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Social Worker 1, 2, 3, or 4, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Certified Social Worker (CSW), plus a master's degree in social work.
FUNCTION OF WORK : To provide social work services, including therapeutic intervention, case management, and written psycho-social history, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment plans for patients and/or offenders.
