Arcadia, Fire Management Officer, Wildland Fire Management Unit Manager Location: Northeast Region – Deer Park, Washington. Full‑time, Permanent (WPEA). Monthly salary: $4,740 – $6,384.

Responsibilities

Hire and supervise permanent and seasonal fire personnel.

Assign work to permanent staff and manage the unit fire suppression program.

Coordinate the unit silviculture burn permit program, including issuing large broadcast burns and managing smoke‐management approvals.

Manage the unit’s fire training program and assist with State Fire Academies and other interagency training.

Oversee the unit’s fire prevention program and provide public education and safety guidance.

Protect life, property, and natural resources from wildland and urban interface fires while ensuring firefighter and public safety.

Required Qualifications

NWCG Incident Commander Type 4 and Strike Team Leader or two years of experience as a Single Resource Boss.

Wildland fire management experience.

Supervisory experience and understanding of operational management of a wildland fire management unit.

Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Experience in agreements and/or contract negotiations.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Valid driver’s license and ability to drive an occupational vehicle.

Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and travel frequently.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Natural Resources, or related field.

Experience in fire regulation and enforcement, forest fire prevention, fire investigation, and burn permit regulation.

Knowledge of employment rules for DNR employees.

NWCG qualifications: Division Supervisor, Type 3 Incident Commander, Prescribed Fire Burn Boss Type 2.
